Wills
Why make one?
Virtually everyone has at least one good reason to make a Will, and making a Will really does not reduce your life expectancy! We can advise you on Inheritance Tax planning, as well as on the potentially far more damaging threat of Nursing Home fees. We will discuss all aspects of your Will with you and prepare a draft for your consideration before seeing you again to sign it.
What if you have a Will already?
It is surprising how quickly a Will can get out of date. If it is more than, say, three years old have a look at it now and see if there any alterations that you should be making to it. We will be happy to discuss those with you. In particular, it may be possible to simplify your Will following the pre-Budget announcement in October 2007 whereby couples can now merge their two Inheritance Tax allowances, thereby making discretionary trusts largely unnecessary.
What will it cost?
Our normal charge for a standard Will is around £100 plus V.A.T., and £160 plus V.A.T. for couples. The cost of a more complex will, incorporating a discretionary trust for example, would be discussed with you in advance before proceeding.
Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney
When seeing you about your Will we will also encourage you to sign a Lasting Power of Attorney. Click here to find out more about Lasting Powers of Attorney.
